2009 Wingspan Golf Classic A Big Success

The first annual Wingspan Classic Charity Golf Tournament swung into action on a gorgeous, 79 degree, slightly breezy day and raised nearly $13,000.00 for Wingspan.

The tournament was held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Dove Mountain on November 20, 2009. The Saguaro and Tortolita courses, where Tiger and PGA pros played, were in fabulous condition.

The Winners

From the 120 players, Donna Marden, Dee Dee McCabe, Sue Basso and Patrick Randles scored 55 to win First Place in a scorecard playoff and were awarded specially designed Philabaum glass art trophies. Phil Mooberry, David Mooberry, Joel Mesik and Brian Colwill won Second Place with a 55, while Kay Starkey, Amy Powell, Paula Medler and Anne Elliott ended in Third Place with a 57.

Prizes

Players competed in a variety of on-course games. Unfortunately, no one sunk a hole-in-one to win a Lexus from Lexus of Tucson.

Phyllis Maloney won the grand raffle prize of an Olivia cruise for two to the Western Caribbean ($5,000 value), and Deb and Sal Risinger won an eight-day stay at a Cancun Resort donated by Dr. Tax ($4,000 value).

Over 50 prizes were given away in the raffle including an electric guitar, boom boxes, jewelry, art, golf equipment, restaurant gift certificates, golf foursomes, spa packages, gift baskets and more.

Golfers and other Wingspans supporters enjoyed a wonderful barbecue dinner on the patio after tournament play.
