Wingspan is proud to announce the relaunch of an innovative media project titled “Neighbors You Know” to coincide with June, which is LGBT Pride Month. This project features local LGBT people and the invaluable contributions that they make to Southern Arizona’s community every day through a series of eight television commercials.
Each commercial features a different “neighbor,” telling their real-life stories of community service through work and volunteerism, and urges viewers to speak up for the neighbors they know.
The commercials will begin running this week on local cable and network television and will continue through June 30th, 2007. Look for the commercials during the morning and evening news on KOLD 13 and KGUN 9. Also look on cable channels CNBC, CNN, Discovery, Bravo, Comedy Central (The Colbert Report and the Daily Show), ESPN, TNT (Law and Order, the Closer, movies), TBS, USA, TLC (What Not to Wear), Lifetime, and the Food Network for "Neighbors You Know."

“Neighbors You Know” was the creative idea of two local community members. Sarah Jones and Pam Squires approached Wingspan last year with the idea of a positive messaging campaign that would show LGBT people in a positive and affirming light- and demonstrate the pride and the valor with which so many of us lead our every day lives. Working with Wingspan, they engaged Ridgewood Associates, a local PR firm.
