Wingspan's Health and Wellness Program foster LGBT Southern Arizonans' health and wellness by increasing their
There are two areas of focus within the Health and Wellness Programs: Early Screening and Prevention and the Breast Health Program.
Early Screening and Prevention activities include: health fairs, educational forums, provider training, and a Health and Wellness Advisory Board. The health fairs bring health professionals and the LGBT community together typically twice a year, in the fall and spring. Educational forums are scheduled as issues and opportunities arise to address such issues as Coming out to your Doctor, Prostate Cancer, and how Body Mass Index impacts your health.
The Health and Wellness Advisory Board is a voluntary group of individuals committed to improving LGBT people's access to effective health services. The Advisory Board has organized efforts to increase the number of health professionals trained to provide care to transgender individuals and increase LGBT people's understanding of their health assets and risks.
The Breast Health Program targets lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, particularly Latinas and people living in rural areas of Southern Arizona. Activities include a Cancer Support Group, Peer Outreach Educators, Provider Training and extensive Outreach and Education.
